Hoyer to Visit Connecticut to Discuss Manufacturing and Campaign for Democrats

Washington, DC - House Democratic Steny H. Hoyer is traveling to Connecticut today as part of his ongoing efforts to build support for Democratic candidates and incumbents and highlight House Democrats' Make It In America plan to create jobs and maintain a strong economy.

On Friday morning, Hoyer joined Rep. Elizabeth Esty (CT-05) at the Women in Manufacturing Summit.  There, he delivered remarks about House Democrats' Make It In America plan and met with women pursuing careers as manufacturing workers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.  Hoyer has led House Democrats' Make It In America plan since its launch in 2010 and oversaw its updating last Congress to reflect new challenges and opportunities following our economic recovery.  Rep. Esty, who also spoke at the summit, was elected to Congress in 2012 and is a former Connecticut State Representative.

In the evening, Hoyer will participate in Rep. John Larson's (CT-01) annual bocce ball tournament in East Hartford.  Proceeds from the event, which has now been held for more than a quarter century, support local charities.  Rep. Larson, a former Connecticut State Senator and high school history teacher, has served in the House since 1999.

Last cycle, Hoyer traveled across the country to raise or contribute $8.6 million for Democratic candidates in key races.  This will be his fourteenth trip to campaign for Democrats since the beginning of the 2018 election cycle.
